Health & Safety Skills for Supervisors Course

A supervisor, foreperson, team leader, overseer, or area coordinator performs management duties in a business.
A supervisor is first and foremost an overseer whose main responsibility is to ensure that a group of subordinates perform the assigned amount of production, when they are supposed to do it, and within acceptable levels of quality, costs and Health and Safety.
This means that the managing and controlling of health and safety conditions in the working environment becomes a main function of the supervisor.
This person needs to ensure that the working environment is free from any hazard or risk which may affect the health and safety of his/her employees working in the area.

Pre-Requisites
Delegates must have the ability to describe the routine work procedures that are carried out according to their subordinates’ job descriptions.
Course Objectives
Learners who achieve accreditation for this module have an understanding of the purpose and objectives of national Health and Safety legislation and are able to use this knowledge to identify Health, Safety, and Environmental hazards in their workplace.
They are able to manage the day-to-day risks associated with their job and work area, report deviations, and initiate appropriate remedial action.
Course Outcomes
At the end of this course, delegates will be able to:
- Explain the relationship that must exist between the employer and employee to meet standards of legal compliance.
- Follow company procedures to manage hazards and implement effective response steps and risk controls.
- Participate in SHEQ incident prevention activities and programme management.
Learning Material
Delegates will use the Health and Safety Skills for Supervisors course manual.
Language
This course is presented in the English language.
Course Requirements
It would be an advantage if the learner could bring the following documents to the course: company policy statement, example of a procedure, risk assessment format, his/her legal appointment document and any other supervisor information which he/she think might benefit the course.
Certification & Assignment
You will be issued with a Certificate of Attendance on completion of this course. You may elect to submit an assignment and will, on successful completion, be issued with a Certificate of Competence.
