Integrated SHEQ Lead Auditor Course
5 days – NQF Level 5
Auditing is a management function implemented to identify pro-actively possible non-conformances in the existing SHEQ management system. It requires a person with specialist knowledge and skill in the actual art of auditing as well as the subject/area to be audited.
An auditor needs integrity, objectivity, impartiality, dedication and passion towards continual improvement of the SHEQ management system not only towards legal compliance but also towards international benchmarking.

Pre-Requisites
You must have successfully completed any one of the following courses:
- ISO14001 Implementation Course
- ISO9001 Implementation Course
- OHSAS18001 Implementation Course
A minimum of 5 years working and 2 years ISO/OHSAS experience is required.
Course Objectives
To equip delegates with international guideline knowledge and skill towards becoming an auditor or lead auditor within the Integrated SHEQ auditing discipline.
Course Outcomes
At the end of this course you will be able to:
- Define integrated SHEQ terminology as per the standards
- Identify the audit process as per ISO19011 – including opening & closing meetings; pre-site visit requirements; audit activities during the audit; communication; team players etc.
- Discuss audit protocol
- Discuss auditor qualifications and experience as per ISO19011
- Discuss certification bodies – locally and globally
- Integrate ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001
- Generate integrated audit questions
- Generate integrated audit non-conformances
- Classify audit non-conformances under the correct ISO/OHSAS clause numbers
- Compile an integrated non-conformance matrix
- Design and develop an integrated audit report according to international protocol
- Perform a partial audit of an actual site in the presence of a lead auditor
- Perform an actual opening and closing meeting
- Discuss an actual audit report based on an on-site audit visit
Learning Material
Delegates will use the ISO19011, ISO9001, ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 standards as well as the course manual.

This course is presented in the English language.
Course Requirements
It is a strong recommendation to bring a laptop with to the course to use during the week.
Please bring the following compulsory PPE for the site visit on the Thursday of the course: Safety shoes; comfortable jeans & shirt/t-shirt; overcoat; hardhat; safety glasses/goggles; hearing protection and other PPE as presumed necessary for the excursion. You will not be allowed to do the practical day without wearing PPE. No open shoes and skirts/dresses for the practical day, please.
Certification & Assignment
You will be issued with a Certificate of Attendance on completion of this course. You may elect to submit an assignment and will, on successful completion, be issued with a Certificate of Competence.
This course is registered with SAATCA as the “Integrated SHEQ Internal Auditor course”.
