South Africa’s SHE Legislation in 15 Days

April 19th, 2010

How many organizations in South Africa can say with confidence that they do comply, not only to the Occupational Health and Safety Act or the Mine Health and Safety Act, but to the other SHE legislation that is applicable to their organisation?

Do you know which laws are applicable and what to do about them?

Program Designed To Cover It All

This Program will start with an overview of legal principles, the functions of government, legislation, the SABS standards and Codes of Practice, since it is often experienced that learners are not familiar with the responsibilities of the different levels of government as well as the terminology used in the legal environment.

The principle of delictual liability, underpinning the Health, Safety and Environmental legislation will be explained.

A section will be presented on new and amended legislation promulgated during 2009 and the first semester of 2010.

The function of the legal components of SHE management systems (the ISO 14001 & OHSAS 18001 debate), the concept of other requirements introduced by the Standards as well as the function and use of legal registers, will be discussed.

Knowledgeable Facilitator

This program will be facilitated by Ina Bezuidenhout, well-known SHE legal consultant who has built her career on studying and implementing the requirements of South Africa’s SHE legislation. Ina’s experience and qualifications in this field will differentiate this unique experience.

Interactive Sessions

All the sessions will be followed by practical work session where the learners’ level of understanding of the legal principles will be confirmed.
